The main criterion for choosing these pictures of Ares, Greek god of war was the title of the image. I have chosen those images in which the god appears with his Greek name, Ares. As you can see, most of them are ancient (in the more modern works of art he appears with his Roman name, Mars).

I like the feeling of intimacy of this relief: Ares the warrior come back home from the battle and Aphrodite offers him water to drink (and, at the same time, she does this little gesture of arranging her veil).
